SKIN CANCER

Did you know that if you have had five or more sunburns in your life, your risk for melanoma is doubled? “Not all skin cancers are life-threatening, but melanoma is very dangerous,” said Hazem F. Elkassas, MD, at Penn Highlands Oncology/Hematology in Brookville, DuBois and Punxsutawney. “The vast majority of skin cancer deaths are caused by melanoma.”

MAKE TIME FOR YOUR HEALTH

Life is busy. We get it. Men often do not pay enough attention to their health and as a result, may be more likely to develop chronic health issues. Regular visits with your doctor can keep you healthy and catch issues early.

SEE CLEARLY

Is it harder to see at night? Do you have sensitivity to light or see halos? Is your vision blurry? These can be signs of cataracts or clouding of the lens of the eye. Cataracts develop when normal aging or an injury causes the proteins and fibers in the eye lens to break down. They may not bother most people until routine daily activities, such as reading, working and driving, become difficult.

BRAIN INJURIES
